I was wondering if dirtbag climbers exist in Vancouver. I have lived in Vancouver for 6 months, and despite the rain, have managed to climb at the various gyms here only about 6 times. I love climbing and bouldering outdoors... Squamish or Skaha in the weekends, and the boulder at Riley park during the week. Now that it is raining, and the routes are forming little waterfalls, a few of us are keen to get strong any way that we can. I have a hangboard at home, so I use that a couple of times a week. But I really don't want to climb at the gym, for one it is REALLY expensive! And two: crowded. Three: it is too expensive. Four: the routes aren't that good. Does anyone know of a place (a co-operative maybe, where members pay a set fee?) that has good problems where you don't have to fork out $17 to climb for a couple of hours... where they don't play Limp Bizkit, or Nickleback? Any feedback will be appreciated!

I'm in the same position. I've only recently moved to Vancouver and am really interested in finding a cheaper option to get strong over the winter. Back home (Montreal) there were several climbing co-ops which allowed people that weren't able to fork over a large amount of money to gyms the chance to train during the winter.
Help poor climbers stay strong!!

How about making your own wall? Here is a wall that is free standing so you don't have to put holes in your walls and take it with you when you move......
