Hey guys,
I'm looking to make a trip to B.C. from Detroit in a couple of weeks. The train stops in Vancouver, and I was thinking of bringing my bike and heading to Whistler from there. Just wondering if anyone has done this route or if it is just not feasable.
Looking at the map, I thought that it could be possible to make a stop in Squamish for the first night and head to Whistler the next day. Is there a way to get there aside from simply following the highway.
If not, is it legal to just ride on the shoulder of the road all the way? Most importantly, how is the terrain? I'm in decent physical shape, but I would have a bit of gear with me, and riding a mediocre mountain bike so if it is all uphill climbs, I might have to break the trip up into a couple more days.
So if anyone has any knowledge of wheather or not this is do-able or if you'd like to join me, please give some feedback. I would like to come the first week of July and my time in Van is flexible. Also any other suggestions for the area are appreciated, especially if they are cheap...like any good hostels or places to camp along the way.
Peace,
Vlad.

You would have to catch the greyhound from Squamish to Whistler, dangerous highway to cycle on, and yes it is the only road to and from Vancouver to Whistler. There's a few campsites at Squamish, but only one I know of that has showers, the others have no facilities such as showers. There is a hostel at Squamish too that isn't too expensive. Their telephone number is 604 892 9240

I've seen people biking the Vancouver to Whistler route. Some parts are pretty steep but I bet it'd be a lovely ride.
