I just saw the movie An Inconvenient Truth.  If you have not already seen this movie then please watch it.
The message is clear if we each do not do something about this issue, then the consequences will be dire.
A rather uncouth phrase comes to mind but one which I feel gets the global warming issue across is that we are "shitting in our own nest".

Again watch the movie or visit:  http://www.climatecrisis.net/

A few small things YOU can do to help the problem:

1.  Use energy efficient light bulbs.  (Save $$$$)
2.  Walk, bike, take public transport.  (Tax break in BC Canada!)
3.  Buy and alternate energy car (No more gasoline = no more billion dollar bonus for Oil Executives).
4.  Install a timer control for your internal heating (Save $$$$ in heating bills).

We all need to act now, otherwise there won't be an Earth for all of us to enjoy...

Hi Kiwi,

I'll copy that link and post it to some forums I know of too; it's China and the US that are the biggest culprits, but every country needs to comply to make a joint effort in saving our planet.  It's only going to get worse otherwise, more than it is already.

Thanks Suzanne.  Having watched the movie I suddenly realized the things I take for granted may not be around in the next 50years, yet alone for my children.

Sites like this would have to change too... Indoorvancouver.com doesn't really have the same ring to it... ;-)

Well it's on a Uk forum, and another climbing forum in Canada now; we need to put it on about 10,000 forums in China though ;)

China yes, but the USA is the biggest culprit.  They contribute more to the problem than any other nation.  It's a shame Al Gore did not become president, as Bush is in the pocket of big oil...

They're both bad, and both need addressing; seems to me that only if it were made illegal in both countries that'd be the main way to stamp it out.

Less cars would be a good thing.  But cities need better public transport.  I know Vancouver had a very low rate of public transport use.  It seems everyone drives to work.   I carpool currently, and take the bus home.

I would love to bike to work, but I'd arrived soaked in the winter, or end up getting run down by some crazy driver.

Must be the same everywhere, in UK now, it doesn't matter where you live it is becoming congested in every city with cars etc; it used to be mainly London, now every city is becoming like London with the traffic, yes, very annoying and stressful.  As public transport here is getting worse not better too, they are charging the earth now for trains, flights are also increasing from what I gather, and buses, london underground, and national trains are cramped.  Whatever happened to the health and safety legislation?  There was always a limit to how many people could get on a bus/ coach/ train at one time; now they don't care about that, it has become all money focused.
