Hi Vancouver peeps!  I'm new to the city and are super keen to head up to Whistler as much as possible to ski.  The cheapest way I'm aware of is the Greyhound bus but it's $40 + tax return which aint really that cheap.  Anyone have any alternate suggestions for people with no vehicle access and slim budget?

Hey TravellerZ I used to be in the same boat, working in Whister and spending time with the girlfriend in Van.  My suggestion is to make friends real fast.  I joined a mtn bike club and met a lot of good people.... with cars.

Try going into some ski/board even mtn bike shops and asking.  Theres bound to be someone who'll take 20bucks to give you a lift.

Ciao and welcome to Vancouver!

Another option is the SnowBus (http://www.snowbus.ca).  Cheaper than Greyhound and a great way to meet new people!  It says $33 return Vancouver - Whistler on the website but you need to become a member to get that rate.

There's a rideshare section on Craigslist - http://vancouver.craigslist.org/rid/.  Try posting on there and see what happens.

I used to be a big supporter of snowbus and their fight against the monopoly Greyhound has over the Vancouver to Whistler route.  That was until I had a meeting one day with Joktan who runs snowbus ... holly cow what a pompous jerk he is!  Go Greyhound!

Thanks guys!  I'm going to checkout the snowbus and maybe post to Craigslist as well.  Hopefully will make friends with cars who head to Whistler often soon but in the short term I'm stuck with public transportation
