Can you feedback and tell me the best network to get on for Vancouver area; and price plan (prefer pay as you talk); and where to get the phone (ideally free).
Thanks

Alternatively, a pager works well too, just get bleeped and call the number that rang you; so that won't cost either (just a phone call).

That's okay ketchup, am not going to bother to buy one, I won't need it; email is free; skype is free; and landline in suite is available so who needs a mobile phone ;)
Especially if you have to pay for incoming calls! what a cheek.

Hi Phil,
yes nokia N70 is a good model, and checked out sim card options already, some good ones, but rip off in Canada if you pay for incoming calls, here we don't pay for incoming (unless overseas).
More importantly will I need a mobile phone there?? There is no unlock code for the N70 yet from what I gather anyhow.

The sim card is what I did at first. If you go on a monthly plan you can get a cheap or free phone. Is the n70 a good model? Is it also tri-band, as you may need tri-band for North America.

Thanks Phil,
and having my nokia N70, if I get it unlocked can just use a sim card. Easiest option I'd guess.

Hi Suzanne,
I use fido.ca, they are owned by rogers (largest gsm company in Canada). The plan I have is ~50mth, which is unlimited incoming and outgoing within Vancouver region.

Here is quick list of options:
GSM (Sim Card) ------ Fido Rogers Virgin?
CDMA -------- Telus Bell
