Anyone know of cheap places to stay up at Whistler?  Me and a few buddies keep heading up but are slowly going broke with the high cost of accomodation.  The cheapest rooms we're able to find are still hundreds of dollars!!!

Hey Scott tell me about it... Whistler is damn expensive.  I would have said try the hostel at the boot pub, but that is no longer unfortunately...  However you could try the HI hostel http://www.hihostels.ca/pm/en/whistlerhostel.aspx

Its a little way out, but cheaper than paying for a hotel I guess.  Another option depending on the season is to contact Staff Housing.  They often have empty rooms during summer.

would imagine if living in Vancouver, it'd be cheaper to commute there daily than paying rip off fees to stay overnight at Whistler?

Cheaper yes ... but huge hassle.  Guess cheap and lazy make a bad combination :)

Well it depends, you can get some deals.  You just have to phone around, that's what I did.  Perhaps outdoorvan should list local accommodation, that would be useful.

How about using a tent ;)

Mountaineers do it all the time, you can get pretty sturdy tents you know.. might take that option myself you never know; although making friends who reside near there is a good idea.

Well having worked there for a season I know its hard to find a place.  Making friends... is the best way, only costs beer!

Hey - was just up in Whistler for $100 a night at swanky Club Intrawest!  Found it on Craigslist after someone had his plans changed last minute and needed to offload the booking.  Going to have to check Craigslist more often for deals in the future!
